Dream 854

'Skeleton in a Suitcase'
Date: 19 July 2017
Time: Time Unknown
Type of dream: Normal dream
Dream recall: Normal recall

Scene 1: Exterior - Day
I was outside in an environment which appeared to be some sort of suburban area with no distinguishing features. I was with a blonde girl, who was perhaps 8 years old. She was in some form of trouble and I was trying to get various dream characters (unrecalled) to help me get her the appropriate help she needed. I am not sure what kind of trouble she was in, I just knew she was 'at risk'.

There was a passing of time, where I am unsure what happened as I cannot recall. I then saw the blonde child's new adoptive father. He was a short, fat black man, in his 40s and was dressed in a pink 'Bo-Peep' style frilly dress with a bonnet. I thought the child was no longer at risk.

We went to a buffet to eat some food - all the food was bland and pale in colour, and I remember there being chicken in a sauce amongst other things.

I then saw the outside of a shop, which was closed for business. By the door of the shop was a suitcase, open and showing a folded up skeleton, which was 'alive', but safely contained in the suitcase. I became aware that the skeleton was the 'trouble' facing the child and that folding it up and putting it in a suitcase and finding her an adoptive father was what had 'saved her life'.

I cannot recall anything else about this dream.

Extra Information:
None of note

Recurrent Dream Themes:

  • None of note

Dreamsigns:

  • The skeleton folded in a suitcase

Day Residue:
  • My academic research focuses on the human rights and welfare interests of children who are at risk of harm. Many of them are in care or seeking adoptive placement

Waking Reactions:
This dream was a little weirder than I have managed to describe it, as I have forgotten some aspects of it. I think there was more awareness of the skeleton in the suitcase and what it represented when I initially woke up recalling this dream. I also think I found out more about the child.
