'My Friend, Hayden Christensen'
Date: 1 April 2017
Time: 21:30 - 00:30 (brief period of wakefulness) & 00:45 - 06:00 (I woke up from this dream naturally)
Type of dream: Vivid dream
Dream recall: Strong recall
Scene 1: My Bathroom, Norwich - Time Unknown
I 'woke up' (this was a False Awakening, but I was not consciously aware of this at any stage in the dream). I was in the bath in my home in Norwich. The bathroom door started to open and I shouted out something such as: 'I'm in the bath!' but the person coming into the room did not stop. It seemed to take quite a while for the door to fully open. My flatmate SC came into the bathroom and calmly approached the side of the bath. He was joined by his girlfriend, ML. I kept expecting SC to say: 'We better leave her alone', but he did not. I felt my privacy was being invaded.
I then woke up briefly.
* After I recorded this dream, I took a bath. I noticed that in real life, the door to my bathroom opens inwards, with the handle on the right side as you enter the bathroom. In my dream, the handle had been on the left, so that the door blocked my view of who was entering from my position in the bath. This contributed to the fact it seemed to take a long time for the door to open inwards and the person entering (SC and later ML) to be visible from behind it.
Scene 2: A Large Room - Time Unknown
I was then in a large room, but I do not know what kind of room this was, although it did look a bit like a school hall or gym. The room was dominated by a large structure, which was made of stainless steel and looked like a climbing frame or scaffolding of sorts. It seemed to be aligned with the walls/sides of the room and was made of a series of metal bars, with a ladder up the side. People would climb the steps of the ladder and then sit at the top of the structure. on metal bars, which seemed to be quite precarious, as you had to balance and there was only one safety rail, a thin rail of metal which was at waist height when you were seated on the top.
I climbed to the top of the structure, although I hate heights. I felt scared doing so, because it felt dangerous. The top of the structure was about 15 feet from the ground. At the top, I had to swing my legs over so that I could sit down on the metal bars. At this point, I noticed that I could see grass/bushes below me on the floor of the room. At the top, I felt very unsafe and kept worrying I would lose my balance and fall. I realised I was sitting next to Hayden Christensen, who I actually knew in the dream as a friend. He was trying to reassure me that I would not fall from the top of the structure, but I was panicking - which was a reaction I would imagine I would be having in real life. Hayden kept grabbing my ankles - I was only wearing white socks, no shoes (I noticed at this point) and his actions were making me feel more stressed. Suddenly, we were joined by NB - a female friend from my hometown of Sheringham, who is on my Facebook. She climbed over my outstretched legs (which appeared to be in Hayden's lap) to get to the other side of us, where she balanced. She seemed to be very calm and used to being on top of the structure and was also trying to reassure me that it was safe. The structure then started moving around the perimeter of the room, going up and down. I could see the grass/bushes getting closer and then further away, as if we were dipping down to the ground and then rising into the air again. My stomach leaped and I felt incredibly anxious, panicking. Hayden and NB were trying to calm me down, telling me I was safe, but I kept slipping and struggled to maintain my balance and grip on the metal rail against which I was leaning. I was sure I was going to fall and there was no way I could get down. This was terrifying.
Scene 3: My High School Foyer, Sheringham - Day
I was then in the foyer of my high school entrance. I was with a female who appeared to be CP, a former friend from my university undergraduate days. We were drinking alcoholic drinks - pink fizzy ones in plastic glasses with straws. I put my finger in my drink to stir it. I noticed CP and I were both wearing short blue pleated tartan skirts and we discussed this, but I cannot recall what was said. I was trying to decide if I should buy £20 of cannabis and could not make up my mind. I cannot recall the context of this part of the dream either, but there was some discussion with another dream character. Through the open doorway I could see that it was a bright sunny day outside.
Scene 4: Sheringham - Day
CP and I then left the school. In the car park, she had a white car and I was designated to drive it, even though I am not able to drive and have never taken a single driving lesson. In the dream, I was aware I could not drive. However, I was shocked at my ability to drive perfectly in the dream. I thought: 'It must be because I've practiced on GTA'. CP - who was sitting in the back seat, leaning forwards - was encouraging me, telling me I was doing great. We were driving on a busy road and I was continuously shocked by how smooth my driving was and how easy I found it. Even when I thought I was oversteering or steering the car recklessly, it turned out that my driving skills were perfect. I was hoping I would not have to go round a roundabout, as this was the part that scared me the most. We parked up - we were in the car park outside The Dunstable Arms Pub, Sheringham, which is very close to my former childhood home in Pine Grove. I was not sure I wanted to do anymore driving because I was aware that I did not have a licence, nor had any teaching, so I had been lucky to be so good at it to this point. I was considering if I should apply to take my test and actually get a licence given I had discovered I could drive. CP was trying to convince me to drive the short remaining distance to where we were heading (location unrecalled). It was still a bright, sunny day.
I cannot recall anything else about this dream.

Extra Information:
None of note
Recurrent Dream Themes:
- None of note
Dreamsigns:
- The actions of SC and ML in Scene 1
- The metal structure in Scene 2
- I was with Hayden Christensen
- I was able to drive perfectly
Day Residue:
- SC and ML have gone away for a short break, so I have been in the flat alone. When I had a bath on the day of this dream, I consciously thought that I would be able to leave the bathroom door open
- On the day of this dream I had been discussing a conspiracy theory (about 35 foot skeletons) which someone in Facebook had tried to (unsuccessfully) convince me were the ancient remains of Nephilim-human hybrids. I told him the photos he saw (which he would not show me) would be photoshopped and that I could not imagine a single room tall enough to house a 35 ft skeleton
- On the day of this dream I had been discussing Hayden Christensen with DL - and had been looking for recent photographs of him
- On the day of this dream I heard someone quote Ronan Keating 'Life is a Rollercoaster' (2000) - I think it may have been Rob Bryden's character, Bryn from Gavin & Stacey which I had been watching on the day of this dream
- I have recently been chatting to NB's brother, TB on Facebook
- On the day of this dream I had seen a photograph of someone (local) on Facebook - he was wearing a blue kilt and other Scottish clothing
- On the day of this dream I saw a photograph of a former friend from my university undergraduate days - like CP, she is someone I am no longer in contact with and these two friendships ended around the same time, during a bad period in my life
- A couple of days before this dream I had been talking about my Art GCSE with DL and mad a reference to the foyer/entrance of my high school
- On the day of this dream I had mentioned to someone that I rarely drink alcohol anymore
- I had mentioned playing Grand Theft Auto on the day of this dream
- On the day of this dream I had been listening to a extract from a Chris Morris radio show where he encourages Paul Garner ('Man with a Mobile Phone') to engage in bizarre behaviour/conversations in public places. I had been listening to one where Morris and Garner prank a taxi driver. Morris instructs Garner to tell the taxi driver to go round the roundabout again because 'he didn't like the way he drove onto it'
Waking Reactions:
This was a bizarre and complex dream which interwove so many different elements of my Day Residue. I found aspects of this dream terrifying, but I would not classify this dream as a nightmare. My responses to a lot of the action in this dream was very realistic - the kind of reactions/responses I would expect to have in real life. I found this dream to be very enjoyable due to how vivid and unusual it was.
I feel that I may have forgotten some details of this dream. If I remember anything further, I will record it below.
Nice to hear about your dreams again, when are you going to continue vlogging on youtube?
